Here’s to Bouncers

By Steve Simms

In my opinion bouncers are the most successful people on earth – bar none. They have learned how to handle themselves when tough times fall across their paths. Bouncers know the secret of a victorious life: It’s not how far you fall but how well you bounce that makes the difference.

Basically there are two kinds of people: bouncers and splatterers! When splatterers hit rock bottom, they fall apart and stick to the bottom – like glue.

Bouncers, however, spring back. True, sometimes it takes them a while, but sooner or later, the very obstacle they collided with propels them back toward the top.

How can you be a bouncer? I recently heard some good advice from motivational speaker Les Brown. He said, “If you can’t fight and you can’t flee, flow!”

Bouncers are flexible. They know that to survive you must be able to change, flow, bend, and grow. Bouncers are mentally tough. They realize that controlling their attitudes, thoughts, and emotions will save many a bleak day.

Bouncers make the very best of whatever hand they are dealt. They agree with Clarence Goshorn who said, “If I would venture a forecast, I would say that business will be good this year for those who make it good.”

Bouncers blast beyond the past, refuse to play “the blame game,” have inner-strength, believe in themselves and have faith beyond the human.

Bouncers see their difficulties as opportunities for self-development. Anybody can gain from their successes. But bouncers know how to profit even from their losses.

Bouncers may from time to time give out, but they never give up! Bouncers know that whatever is bigger than they are, challenges them to be bigger than they have been!

Bouncers are optimists who agree with Winston Churchill who said, “I am an optimist. It doesn’t seem too much use being anything else.”
