Tiny Timesaver

The best business investment I ever made was in a $27 microcassette recorder. I carry it everywhere and use it to compose letters on the road and take notes after a car phone call. If I see business signs advertising potential customers, I record the information. When I call on these prospects, I compliment the signage, ask who designed it and carefully work into the conversation the product I sell and its benefits. On long drives, my recorder lets me take mental notes on sales problems that I can fine tune when I return to the office. I also record information on commercial construction sites, which often allows me to get my foot in the new business’s door before anyone else does!
