Sometimes, we let ourselves off the hook rather than be honest. We decide to tell one white lie, and then another. Who will it hurt? Sometimes, it’s not so much the lie that’s the problem; the problem is that we risk becoming comfortable with dishonesty. What start out as minor deceptions can snowball. By the time we’re caught in the avalanche, we’re scared of the consequences. In the final analysis, it’s actually easier to make honesty your best policy.
