Justifications

Anger is often accompanied by deep feelings of self-righteousness: “I’m right, you’re wrong, and here are all the reasons why.” The need to justify our emotions is normal, but sometimes our desire to prove we’re right, either to ourselves or other people, gets in the way of letting go of negative experiences and feelings. Whenever you feel critical, angry, judgmental, or anxious, remember that justification for those feelings can be like quicksand. Don’t get pulled under.
